Eligibility Requirements for Freeland Hall (HHAC) Candidacy
- Freeland Hall Membership: Must have proof of membership in the last 90 days. Paid members since July 4th, 2024.
- Professional Qualifications: Certain skills or experience may be required (e.g., business management, finance, governance).
- Must Be Present at: Monthly Community Potlucks and Board meetings with specific duties at each event. This includes presence as an active member of the board completing tasks as agreed to and assigned. The board reserves the right to nominate
- Residency: Whidbey Island, WA
Nominations
- Self-Nomination: Members can apply for nomination online.
- Nomination by Others: nominations can occur by current board members, or other members of the organization.
- Nomination Period: Each nominee will have two minutes to present their strategy at Freeland Hall at the next meeting before the election. Details of this meeting will be announced on Monday October 14th via our social and email lists.
- Position Seeking: Organization Secretary.
Application Process
- Nomination Form: Potential Candidates must complete and submit an official nomination form, which includes personal details, qualifications, and a statement of intent.
- Resume: Include professional experiences relevant to running and operating a non-profit business.
- References: Two references shall be required.
Background Check
- Background checks & References will be reviewed by the board to ensure that candidates meet ethical and professional standards.
Review by Election Committee
- The Election coordinators will review all submitted voting to ensure nominations meet the specified requirements candidacy.
Voting Process
- Election Date: Thursday, November 7th, 2024, at 4 PM.
- Voting Mechanism: Members may vote in person at Freeland Hall on the night of the 7th.
Election Results
- Results will be announced at the conclusion of the voting period.
- There may be run-off elections if no candidate receives a majority vote.
Term of Office
- Board of Governors may serve up to 3 years.

- Trustee positions while available are not elected positions and will be appointed by the board after elections.
